But all of that preparation can be a bit daunting! It's possible that as you’re preparing to whip up a meal, you might find you’ve forgotten one (or a few) ingredients to make your Easter brunch recipes or your favorite Easter dinner ideas, and now you’re frantic to figure out which stores are open on Easter Sunday. Or, you might realize you're out of dog food or an essential medication or toiletry. It happens! While many stores are closed on April 17, you do have options. Stores Open on Easter:
The Home Depot
If you need to make a last-minute home repair, you're in luck: All locations are open with abbreviated hours.
Walmart
The superstore will be open for Easter this year. Check with your local store for hours of operation.
Kroger
Check with your local store. Most are opening from 7 a.m. to 9 or 10 p.m. on Easter.
Giant
Giant stores remained closed for Easter in 2021 and are expected to be closed in 2022 as well.
ShopRite
Contact your local store. Some locations are closed this Easter.
Whole Foods
All stores will be open this year, but hours vary by location. Check their online store locator to confirm.
Safeway
Stores are open this year. Times vary based on location.
PetSmart
Hours vary store to store, so it's recommended to contact your local shop to get details on its schedule.
CVS
You should be able to pop by your local CVS on Easter, but you might want to double check on pharmacy hours before you go.
Rite Aid
As with CVS, you can stop by Rite Aid for picking up any last minute Easter candies or cards, but calling up about pharmacy hours at your local store might be your best bet.
Walgreens/Duane Reade
The pharmacy chain stays open year-round, but it's advisable to make sure your local store's pharmacy is open if picking up prescriptions. Most 24-hour locations are opening 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Easter.
Albertson's
Check with your local store as hours may vary by location.
Bed Bath and Beyond
Most stores will be open normal hours on April 17 this year. Note that locations in certain shopping malls will be closed. Check specific store hours on the website.
buybuy Baby
Most locations are open during regular hours on Easter Sunday in case you need diapers or a gift for the little ones in your life. We recommend calling ahead to double-check that the store nearest you is open.
Dollar General
Locations are open regular hours for any essentials.
7-Eleven
The convenience store will be open on Easter, but may have limited hours. If you're on the road, it's a great pit stop for drinks and snacks.
BJ's
Unlike other membership clubs, BJ's Wholesale will be open on Easter Sunday.
